That’s the Thing – Summer Movie Podcast

"Every major summer blockbuster that is released is essentially a product line being launched across multiple verticals. However, the centerpiece of the product launch is a big, beautiful story whose job is to entertain." Shawn Amos

Nick and Alex discuss the evolution of the Summer Blockbuster, some notable titles, the effects of solid marketing campaigns, and the Summer Blockbuster’s current status during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Note: This podcast was recorded on July 12, 2020. Since then, there have been reports of Disney postponing “Mulan” indefinitely, as well as Warner Bros. announcing its plans to release Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” overseas first between August 26th and 28th before opening in most American theaters on September 3rd.
